Enokido Lumber

Originally a trading company specializing in wood import and sales, the company has since shifted its core focus to the real estate business. However, driven by a strong desire to honor its heritage and "preserve the wood business nurtured since its founding," the company launched a custom woodwork production service, and has steadily grown its sales.

Contributing to society through craftsmanship using Japanese wood.

In Japan, many cedar and cypress trees planted after World War II have been left untended, contributing to issues such as severe hay fever and increased landslide risks. To address this, Enokido Lumber actively utilizes domestic timber, such as Sanbu-sugi Cedar from Chiba Prefecture, alongside imported wood and plywood. By conducting thorough consultations with each client to select the most suitable materials, the company creates furniture that is highly acclaimed, maintaining a repeat customer rate of over 70% in its woodworking business.

A warm hub for community connection.

Shinkiba, where Enokido Lumber is located, has few dining options. To address this, the company opened “Umineko Shokudo,” a bento shop led by an employee with a professional chef background. The shop has become a new community hub, frequently visited not only by employees but also by local residents and staff from nearby companies. Furthermore, in 2025, the company collaborated with neighboring businesses to host “Shinkiba Creative Hub,” an event designed to encourage people to explore and discover the local area.

Sparking a Makers’ Movement in Shinkiba.

Enokido Lumber is launching a new workshop service for the general public, leveraging its prime location in Shinkiba with easy access from central Tokyo. The goal is to make woodworking accessible and easy for people in the Tokyo metropolitan area who have been unable to try DIY projects due to a lack of space or tools. Through these initiatives, Enokido Lumber is creating new value and revitalizing the Shinkiba district.
