The company was named "Kyodaisha" (meaning "Brothers' Company") because it was founded in 1967 by the current president's father and uncle—who were brothers. While bookbinding remains their core business, they specialize in precision paper folding. Leveraging this expertise, the company has recently focused on the manufacturing and sales of Goshuin-cho (temple/shrine stamp books).

Mastering the craft of “Mini-Folding” small paper.

Kyodaisha’s core strength lies in its folding techniques, particularly its specialty known as “Mini-Folding.” Folding tiny instruction manuals—the kind found in over-the-counter medicine or miniature car boxes—with absolute precision requires specialized machinery and skills that are rare even within the industry. Their expertise is so highly regarded that they often receive consultations from other professional bookbinders.

High-quality Goshuin-cho, defined by exceptional paper selection.

Kyodaisha’s other signature product is the Goshuin-cho, a book used for collecting stamps as proof of visiting shrines and temples. The company carefully selects and uses high-quality washi (Japanese paper) that is highly absorbent and thick enough to prevent calligraphy ink from bleeding through. Furthermore, by folding and layering the paper in an alternating pattern, they not only prevent ink seepage to the reverse side but also enhance the book’s overall durability. Sold at souvenir shops in temples, shrines, and business hotels, their Goshuin-cho have earned an excellent reputation among users.
