Breeding a New Generation of Peace Silk Silkworms
Fascinated by the mysterious life cycle of silkworms, Tsubokawa joined the Japan Wild Silkworm Society and conducted extensive research to develop the original Fukagawa Silkworm. The thick, durable silk threads spun by this species excel in moisture absorption, making them ideal for stoles and other garments. Unlike traditional silk production, Peace Silk allows silkworms to complete their life cycle, making it a cruelty-free, vegan-friendly, and sustainable alternative that is gaining attention.
A Private Museum Dedicated to the Wonders of Wild Silk
Driven by a passion to share the beauty of wild silkworms, Tsubokawa established the WILD SILK MUSEUM in 2016. The museum features books, specimens, and handcrafted silk products, fostering direct engagement with visitors to improve and innovate silk-based items. Beyond exhibitions, the museum actively contributes to the local community by hosting educational programs at elementary schools, teaching children about the significance of life and the gifts that silkworms provide.
Sustainable Innovation: Zero-Waste Silk for a Better Future
Long before sustainability became a global priority, Tsubokawa set out to achieve zero-waste silkworm utilization. Research is now underway to develop a silk-infused beauty serum using water from the silkworm boiling process. At the same time, partnerships with large-scale breeders in rural areas are being explored to expand production. Actively collaborating across industries, WILD SILK MUSEUM is ready to bring its unique, sustainable silk innovations from Fukagawa to the world.
