Fukuske Corporation

Founded in 1882 as a Tabi (traditional Japanese socks) wholesaler, the company was named "Fukuske" with the wish to bring "Fuku"—or happiness—to its customers. It successfully achieved mass production by introducing its own in-house developed sewing machines, playing a key role in popularizing Tabi culture throughout Japan. In recent years, the company has expanded its product range to include socks and innerwear, earning the affection of people of all ages through its longstanding technical expertise.

Precision stitching for a perfect three-dimensional form.

A key reason why Fukuske’s Tabi continue to be favored by many is their exceptional comfort. On the underside of the split toe, you will find fine, delicate gathers. Using specialized sewing machines, highly skilled artisans meticulously sew each pair, creating a three-dimensional structure that softly contours to the natural shape of the toes.

Pioneering comfort in modern innerwear.

Building on its success with Tabi, Fukuske has evolved with the times to offer a wide range of products, including socks and innerwear. Its flagship legwear brand, “Manzoku,” achieves the perfect balance of a thin, soft touch and long-lasting durability. Furthermore, the company was the first in the industry to introduce compression socks—popular among women—to the men’s market. These have been highly acclaimed by professionals who frequently travel abroad or spend long hours at a desk. Fukuske is dedicated to designing items that provide comfort for everyone, regardless of gender or age.

Fukuske’s heritage to a global stage.

While Fukuske’s primary focus remains the domestic market, the company is also looking toward international expansion, as Tabi-style socks are currently gaining significant attention in Western fashion. Domestically, Fukuske’s Tabi were selected as part of the official uniforms for the Japan Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. Furthermore, the company continues to broaden its cultural presence through unique collaborations, such as creating pouches made from Tabi fabric for the Japan Shogi Association’s official merchandise.
